MILO HAVE-A-GO COMMENCES AT THE - W.J. FINDLAY OVAL, FRIDAY, 6TH NOVEMBER,2008 AT 6.00 PM. What is “Have-A-Go Cricket”?Have-A-Go Cricket is a modified cricket program that has been developed to enable children at an early age to further develop their co-ordination and motor skills. The emphasis of the program is to have fun with groups of children of the same age eg. Kinder, but at the same time developing skills through participation. Have-A-Go cricket is suited to 5-7 year old children. What is “Have-A-Game Cricket”? Have-A-Game Cricket is a modified cricket program that has been developed for the older children of 8-10 years of age to bridge the gap between Have-A-Go and under age club cricket. The RUCC will offer this program to our older age groups to provide a link to our Under 11 non-competitive teams. These sessions will focus more upon the game of cricket and the development of game skills. The RUCC has been fortunate to have been involved with Cricket Victoria at an early stage in the development of this new program as a result of the excellent program the club has been running for a number of years. How safe is it? Modified equipment is used right through the age groups from Kinder through to grade 6 at primary. At Have-A-Go level children will be using plastic bats and soft rubber balls. At Have-A-Game level, the children are wearing full equipment including pads and helmets but only using a modified softer ball known as an “incrediball” We promote sun awareness with slip slop slap, ensuring that children wear both hats and sunscreen. When & how often is the Program? The program runs for 12 weeks, 7 weeks prior to Christmas from Friday, 6th November, 2009 through to 18th December 2009 inclusive and resuming on the 29th January, 2010 running through to 26th February 2010. The program normally runs on Friday evenings from 6.00pm at the W J Findlay Oval. How much does it Cost? The total cost of the program is $55 per child, each child receives a cricket bat, a ball, Bucket Hat, CD-Rom, and other giveaways. The RUCC is likely to provide the Have-A-Game children with a special club shirt this season as an added incentive. $50 of the $55 goes direct to the Cricket Victoria to cover these items and some insurance. The balance is used to provide trophies to participants, cordial during the sessions, and other running costs including equipment. A long way for $5 each to go, hence this is supplemented by raffles and sausage sizzles etc, to keep the cost down to all. How do I Register my Child? MILO Cricket is on again!
