About our Club  Our club is situated at the very picturesque W.J. Findlay Oval, Evans St, Wangaratta, North Eastern Victoria, Australia.The club fields - A Grade, A Reserve, C Grade, Under 16's, Under 14's & Under 12's entered in the local Wangaratta & District Cricket Association. The turf wicket at the "City Oval" was first laid in 1954, with the first game played on it in January, 1955. A new electric roller was purchased for the "City Oval" in February, 1960 through J A Cox Engineering, Wangaratta at a cost of 179.10 pounds, with a grant from the City of Wangaratta of 80 pounds. See attached invoice. Originally the home of the Rovers CC until United CC formed in 1961/62 season when they share the moderate facilities at the City Oval. Gradual improvements over the years included practice net facilities at the northern end of the ground, which where upgraded in 1993 to the best practice facilities in Wangaratta ! Saturday, 11th January, 2009 at 11.00 am One Day Match (50 over per innings) St. Kilda C C V's Frankston Peninsula C C Venue : Norm Minns Oval, Wangaratta Free Entry ! Milo have a go cricket RUCC conduct Milo "Have a Go" cricket for all local kids from 6 years old to 10 years old on Friday evenings at the W.J. Findlay Oval, starting on 17th October, 2008 at 6.00 pm. Please contact our club's Cricket Development Coach Mr. James Levesque on 5721 9580 or just pop down to training if you are interested in playing. Cricket Training2008/09 training commences on Monday nights for all potential & existing junior and senior players at the Indoor cricket centre from - 7.30 pm. Then once the weather & day light picks up , compulsory training nights are Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 5.30 pm for all senior cricketers. Players are encouraged to come to training as early as 5pm to get some extra practice, assist the juniors and to help where required - don't leave it to the same old blokes.
Our Under 12 & 14's train on Wednesday evenings, while our Under 16's train on Thursday evenings. NOTE - There will be training in wet weather with an emphasis on fitness and ball handling skills and players should make every effort to attend. If unavailable or injured: Advise your team captain by the Tuesday before a new match at the very latest! If you are in doubt as to the team you have been selected for then ring one of the Captains or Chairman of Selectors. It is your responsibility to be at the match location on time, and if you are in any doubt or you require transport then YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for making the necessary arrangements.
